Place the shock in the calking gun with the top of the shock on the hand trigger side.
Tighten up the shock until it is firm in place (with out compressing the spring)
Use the calk gun to compress the shock until the bottom chrome ring has about a
1/2 to a 1 inch between the plastic retainer with the two groves on opposite side.
It is easer to grab the plastic retainer on the top of the two groves (inside of
where the chrome rig would sit). In doing this you will not take a chance
of messing up the appearance of the plastic groves. |
This is where to use the tile pliers. Grab the plastic with the inside of the tile
pliers and twist off the end of the shock with a screw driver going through the
bottom bolt hole.
There are no teeth marks on the inside of the tile piers and the jaws open to the
perfect width. This way, the plastic retainer will be unharmed. |
